PROS: Has a good, strong leg. Get good hangtime and for the most part doesn't outkick his coverage. Shows directional potential, able to work the sideline and the short field. Is a nice two-step punter.
CONS: Doesn't consistently show a booming leg.
OVERVIEW: His accuracy and potential there eclipses his leg strength. For his career, punted 214 times and average 42.2 yards per punt. Had 72 punts placed inside the 20 and 43 fair catches with only 28 touchbacks.
NFL FORECAST: Bowden is polished enough in his directional kicking that he can compete right away in the pros. He's not quite there, but within a few years he should be able to compete with the top punters in that area. He doesn't have a big leg, but it's good enough to be effective at the next level. He's the type of guy that averages only 41 or 42 yards per punt, but would be dominant in terms of his ability to rule field position if he played on a dome team.
ATL FORECAST: Bowden could excel in Atlanta because of his directional kicking would make him very effective indoors. But he doesn't offer the same leg strength that Koenen does nor the ability to kick off, so unless the Falcons added a kicker that could handle those latter duties, then he isn't really an upgrade.
VALUE: He's good enough to get drafted. For a team desperate for a solid, directional punter he could sneak into the late fifth round.
