Michigan State Senior

PROS: Has nice accuracy on his field goals. Shows nice leg strength. Shows ability to drive kickoffs to goalline when working indoors.
CONS: Doesn't show ability to drive kickoffs deep when kicking outdoors.
OVERVIEW: Made 78% of his 91 field goal attempts at Michigan State. Served as a kickoff specialist for one year, his senior year. Had 66 kickoffs and 7 touchbacks that year.
NFL FORECAST: Swenson has the range to kick up to 50 yards, but I'm not sure if his range goes much beyond that. And while he could be a serviceable kickoff guy at the next level, I'm not sure he would be able to cut it unless his team kicked in doors. In the indoor game I saw him play, he consistently put the ball at the goalline. But in a home game outdoors, he couldn't even make it to the 5, with some kicks not even making it to the 10. But his primary duties will be making field goals, something I think he can and will do to a good, if not great degree. He can stick right away, but I'm not sure he will. Since he doesn't have a huge legs, teams will be less willing to roll the dice on him at a young age. So he's one of those guys that bounces around for a few summers and then finally gets a chance perhaps two or three years down the line, impressing as an injury fill-in during the season.
ATL FORECAST: Swenson is good enough to compete in Atlanta, and kicking indoors might bring out the best in his game. But I'm not sure he's good enough to unseat a veteran like Bryant or Hauschka, both of whom have stronger, more experienced legs.
VALUE: Swenson isn't really worth a draft pick, but definitely is worth a look in camp by some team.
