PROS: Tough, active defender that shows some pop as a tackler. Attacks well downhill and flashes potential as an interior blitzer. Is decent when working in zone coverage.
CONS: Lacks speed and range, and not good in space or pursuit because he'll take some poor angles. Not always a strong tackler and will miss stops in the open field. Doesn't get good depth in zone coverage. Gets caught in traffic too much up the middle.
OVERVIEW: A productive player that just doesn't have the speed and range to be a consistent option at the next level. He was a productive two-year starter on the outside before he moved to the middle this past season. Combined for 318 tackles, 27.5 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, 3 picks, and 4 forced fumbles.
NFL FORECAST: Rey can contribute on special teams, but he isn't that good when he's asked to play in space, considering he's a former outside linebacker. He's tough and physical, and gives good effort, the exact type of temperament that can make for a good special teams player. But he is too limited on defense to really be considered an option as a reserve. He's the type of player that is buried on the depth chart or practice squad for a few years, but I don't think he has the speed or long-term potential to really stick in the league longer than three or four years.
ATL FORECAST: Rey could push for time as a reserve middle linebacker behind Lofton, but will have to make the roster on his special teams merits alone. He can do that, but don't expect him to get a lot of playing time here in Atlanta. He would more than likely push for a practice squad early on, but doesn't have long-term potential to think he could stick more than two summers.
VALUE: Rey is worth a look in camp, but don't draft him.
