40: 4.57 (Campus)
PROS: Able to shoot gaps and make stops in the backfield. Able to fill hole and make stop at the point of attack. Shows some ability to move in space and to develop more in coverage. Good in pursuit.
CONS: Struggles to take on and beat blockers at the point of attack. Not really a strong tackler due to lack of ideal size in the middle.
OVERVIEW: A two-year starter in the middle, led the team in tackles each of the past two seasons. He combined for 197 tackles, 14 for loss, 5 sacks, and 3 picks.
NFL FORECAST: Mayberry is a good enough defender that he can stick as a reserve linebacker for some team, probably working best in a 3-4 scheme as a reserve. His potential will likely come on special teams. He has some ability to develop where he's competent enough in coverage where he won't be a major liability when working in zone. If he cannot stick as a reserve linebacker on the next level, there is a chance he could flip over to offense since he played fullback in high school. His skillset could make himself into a decent lead blocker, although again his value will be his special teams ability. If he can impress a team enough right off the bat, he is good enough to make an NFL roster. His long-term potential is limited to just being your run of the mill NFL backup. But he coudl ultimately play five or more years in the pros on special teams.
ATL FORECAST: Mayberry is good enough to push Gilbert for his backup spot, although isn't really an upgrade. Probably won't ever be, but within two or so years could be on a similar level of competence. He'd be pressed to win the job, but has youth and a low salary working in his favor. He isn't an ideal long-term fixture as a backup MLB, but is good enough to stick for three or so years backing up Lofton.
VALUE: Mayberry might sneak into the very end of the seventh round for a 3-4 team looking for a special teams player, but is more in line with talent to be had in undrafted market.
