PROS: Is a tough and fiesty player that likes to hit. Shows decent instincts and a nose for the ball. Is a good tackler that wraps up and can make stop at the point of attack. Does his best work when attacking the line of scrimmage, is able to weave through traffic and shoot gaps to make plays in the backfield.
CONS: Lacks athleticism and is limited in man coverage due to poor hips and footwork. Lacks speed and range and won't make plays outside hashmarks in pursuit. Gets stuck in trash and will bite on play fakes. Doesn't get off blocks well.
OVERVIEW: A productive player that bolstered his production because he made quite a few tackles downfield. His lack of athleticism limits his pro potential, but he's a good football player. In two years as a starter in the middle, he combined for 169 tackles, 20.5 tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and 2 interceptions. MIssed all of 2007 season with a broken leg.
NFL FORECAST: His impact in the pros will depend on his ability to play on special teams. He just has very limited upside to play on defense. But his temperament is the kind that can shine on special teams. If he has any chance of playing regular defense, it will likely have to be in a 3-4 scheme where he can attack upfield. But honestly, he probably would stand a better chance making a roster if he moved to offense and played fullback. He can have a long career if he is a good special teams guy, or he'll be out of the league by his second summer.
ATL FORECAST: If he could come in and outplay Tony Gilbert on special teams, then he could make the Falcons roster. But doesn't have as much ability to play on regular defense as Gilbert. And even if the Falcons tinkered with moving him to the offensive side of the ball, doubtful he would make an impact there because of how raw he is.
VALUE: He is worth an invite to camp, but his limited upside to play on defense means he should not be drafted.
