PROS: Has a relentless motor and plays to the whistle. Is able to do some things in pursuit. Has a decent first step and shows some ability as a bull rusher. But mostly relies on hand use as a pass rusher, which are pretty good. Works well on stunts. MOves well in sapce and has experience dropping back into coverage on zone blitzes.
CONS: Lacking as a pass rusher and doesn't have many moves to beat the blocker. Will get pushed around at the point of attack and engulfed vs. the run. Misses too many stops in the open field because he doesn't break down well in space.
OVERVIEW: He's a tweener, but he's able to make plays because he has a high motor. He was productive at Washington as a four-year starter, tallying 30 sacks, 47 tackles for loss, and 8 forced fumbles.
NFL FORECAST: He'll definitely stick in the NFL somewhere because coaches will love his motor. But there really isn't a position that he fits very well at. To stay on the line, he'll have to bulk up. But I think instead he'll probably stick at linebacker. I think he can be a Jarret Johnson type player because both are high motor players. I'm not sure he'll be a starter, but a 3-4 team could make him a nice option as a backup, and with a few years under his belt like Johnson could develop into a capable starter. He'll need to show that he can make plays in space, something he's struggled to do at times.
ATL FORECAST: He wouldn't be a good fit in Atlanta as a linebacker, so he'd have to impact as lineman. He could be a decent option in the rotation if he was to bulk up. BUt he'll not be an impact pass rusher, and will have to get bigger and stronger vs. the run. He just doesn't really have the upside as a defensive lineman to think he could stick in Atlanta for more than a year or two.
VALUE: For a 3-4 team, taking him in the sixth or seventh round makes sense. For a team looking for him to play up front, he's an undrafted player.
