What are people thinking about picking up the ex-Bills, ex-Titans player?
Really wanted us to get him back in 2013. Not sure he's that same guy anymore. But it beats James Stone or Mike Person there.
Thoughts on Levitre trade?
Re: Thoughts on Levitre trade?
I think that it's a great move for us. It sounds like he excels in a ZBS. His price tag is high, but we could restructure that, or... if he doesn't work out, we can dump him without a cap penalty. (I believe the trading team that the player comes from eats the guaranteed money in a trade, but things might have changed...)
Re: Thoughts on Levitre trade?
As far as I'm aware Robert, that rule hasn't changed. All of his remaining prorated bonus money was accelerated to the Titans' cap (IINM that was about $6.3 million), while the Falcons are only on the hook for his base salaries from here on out.
I know there was talk immediately after the trade that he'd restructure, but I wouldn't really expect that to happen until after the season. At that point, the Falcons can decide...
A: to cut him outright, freeing up $6.5 million in cap space
B: restructure him, and get a fair deal for both parties dependent on how well he plays in 2015 or
C: decide he's worth $18.8 milion over the next 3 years and do nothing.
