Wish I could tell you the name of it but it had a brief interview with McKay yesterday.

Two important things were learned about draft philosophy:

1. Speed is the #1 measurable they look for. (I know, not a big shock)

2. Don't expect a small school combine wonder to be drafted by us early. Although UAB is not a powerhouse program they are well respected because they play good teams (remember they almost beat UGA and Tennessee). McKay specifically said that he believes in draft from bigger schools because they have already been exposed to the top talent in pressure situations....

Gee I wish someone would have told Dan Reeve's the master of disaster when it comes time to draft. Those Kent State players really paid off big for the Falcon's.

Yeah, teams should only look at small school prospects when they absolutely dominate their competition. A good example was Demarcus Ware. I wonder had Ware been available when we picked, would the Falcons have taken him. Troy State is no powerhouse, but they played some decent schools over the last 3 years: Nebraska, Virginia, LSU, Missouri, Marshall, South Carolina, Minnesota, Arkansas, Iowa State, and Kansas State.

Looking at McKay's last eight drafts broken down by Conference (based on what conference each team was in when the player was drafted, not in what they are in now in 2005):

DIVISION I-A
SEC (13)
ACC (8)
Big Twelve (7)
Big Ten (6)
Big East (6)
Conference USA (5)
Pac-10 (4)
Independent (2)
Mountain West (2)
MAC (1)
WAC (1)

DIVISION I-AA
Ivy League (1)
Great WEst (1)
Ohio Valley (1)

55 of 58 players came from Division I-A schools, and all but 11 of those guys came from the Big 6 conferences.

Very interesting info pudge on the breakdown by conference.More than likely the top draft picks won't be coming from the Pac 10.The SEC and ACC are Mckay's fav conferences, this is just educational guesses on his draft patterns.I don't know the breakdown of each player vs school vs round but I would assume this.I need to look at our drafts further since my head is in the clouds at this time.

Unless something bad happens here's a name to watch for (just a gut feeling): Joseph Addai, RB, LSU.

5'11", 210 lbs, 4.42 40. Currently projected as a 2nd rounder...

Another good one might be that big back at Louisville. He looks like he could move well laterally and lower his shoulders. Might be worth giving him a shot.
