foxsports.com says we cut Herndon yesturday. http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/transactions

I thought we placed him on IR due to a neck injury? Did we reach an injury settlement with him? I thought you werent allowed to cut injured players?

Anyone have anymore info on this? And does this have something to do with Mathis?

Must be an injury settlement.

I looked on the Falcons website and they have the following for transactions:

September 8th:
Placed WR Kevin Youngblood on IR
Waived G Steve Herndon and G Michael Moore, both injured
Signed WR Derek Lee to the practice squad

September 13th:
Waiver WR Kevin Youngblood injured

Waived injured means that we can sign them after week 10 if we want...

Waived/injured and injury settlement are different things. Injury settlement means you can sign them after Week 10. Waive/injured means if they clear waivers then they go on the IR. I honestly believe AtlantaFalcons.com is confusing the two terms.

Origianlly Moore was waived/injured, but now apparently was cut with an injury settlement.

The reason the Falcons did this was so that they wouldn't have to pay each player their salary if they were on the IR on the first week fo the season. Every player on the roster for the first game of the year has their salary guaranteed for the rest of the year. The Falcons now have the option of re-signing either player after Week 10 if they are healthy. I'm not sure Moore will be coming back, but at some point whether its during this year or right after the season, I suspect Herndon will return. He's a very valuable utility OLineman.
