per VM:

Big nose tackle Paul Soliai got his 300-plus body up in the air and nearly picked off a Matt Ryan pass over the middle during Tuesday's practice. He looked like a defensive back dropping into coverage. "It was a good drop (move)," Soliai said. "I’m not really a dropper; I was just doing my job and fortunately I was there at the right moment and should have made a play." When a big guy can move like that, you understand why the Falcons are so high on Soliai and the impact he'll have up front this season.

WTF? Why would you ever want a 300+ pound lineman back-pedalling? Didn't work out so well for Corey Peters last year . . . A 30+ one? Who is signed for the next four years? Who doesn't have a comparable backup? What possible gain could be worth the risk?

How does this disregard exist on the same team that refuses to risk special teams ace Antone Smith on offense?

Winning games?

Step 1: drop nose tackle into zone coverage.

Step 3: win games.

Something's missing there.

Soliai was doing the talking, my bet is he got blocked, then did what he wanted!! I really don't think a coach has a nose tackle drop into coverage.

These guys do some stupid things even in games, I'll have to see him play good before I think he's dropping into cover by design, I can see him
getting blocked and just getting lucky to hit the football. If it was a designed play some coach would have spoke about it, that 300 lb lineman
would have a tough time covering a back or receiver!!

I know he has not played a ton of nose tackle during that span, but Haloti Ngata has dropped into coverage 25 times over the past 5 years.

When Nolan was in Miami for 2 years, Soliai dropped into coverage a total of 2 times. That became 9 in the 2 years post-Nolan.
