Walterfootball has reported that the Falcons met with Jake Matthews and Greg Robinson at the NFL Combine.

It is clear that the Falcons main focus going into the draft is protecting Matt Ryan and rushing the passer and they have visited with the top three players at both positions. It is as good as guaranteed the Falcons will address both of those areas in the first two days of the draft. Atlanta has shown interest in several potential second and third round pass rushers so it is possible they double down at that position much like they did last year at cornerback.

There is a conspicuous lack of safeties on this list (edit: as of April 2nd) but I suspect that will change in the coming weeks. There is a gaping hole at the position with the departure of Thomas DeCoud and it will have to be addressed at some point in the draft. I would not be surprised to see the Falcons bring in a veteran sometime before training camp either. The free agent cupboards are bare though so the draft is likely to be the Falcons best chance at finding a starter.

I have also put together a spreadsheet organizing all of these players by their position and/or draft projections and as well as listing their measurables and other pertinent information so give that post a look too! I will continue to update this list and the spreadsheet whenever possible so check back often to stay up-to-date!

We've probably taken a few looks at Jerimiah Attaochu and Brandon Watts as well. Watts could be a Safety project.

Frankly, my dream draft would be taking Robinson, or Matthews with our first pick, and Attaochu with our 2nd pick.

I would also like to see us come away from this draft with with Ryan Carrethers on the roster. If we intend to be a 3-4 team, he would be a fantastic, "project NT," to bring up. He was a tackle machine in college, putting up tackle numbers similar to a LB.

What about FS?

We have a lot of holes. We have like 9 draft picks... I've only mentioned uses for three of them.

You mentioned using the top two picks addressing other areas. I just wanted to see where in your dream scenario would a FS fit. Just trying to get in your head Rob.

In my head, the game is won in the trenches. I think I've been fairly consistent in that view, ever since I've been here. That's not to say that Safety isn't important... But if I have holes at DE, OT, and SA, unless there's a safety out there that's more than marginally better than the OT's and DE's available, I'm going to go with the linemen.

We have looked at Attaochu. He was at the local pro day 2 weeks ago.

That's always been my view also; and why the Falcons usually suck!!

I can't think of one good player off-hand; maybe I would find one if I looked it up??

I'd love to find a way to draft Brandon Thomas the guard from Clemson in the mid rounds. I think he could be a 2nd round pick but because of his injury will be drafted lower. He won't play this upcoming year but any team who drafts him will have done a good job of being rewarded since he would be a good guard prospect and be a valuable addition to the line. The Falcons of course won't draft him because they don't have the ability to solve problems long term and look ahead. They just see what is now happening and make rash decisions. It's the mark of a bad management style and why the competition does better.

I know we have all these needs but in reality only a few of these players will make an impact in the future. Why not draft Thomas who could replace Blaylock a year from now? Makes to much sense which is why the Falcons won't do it.

My wish list would be the following if the Falcs don't trade up for Clowney.

1. G Robinson
2.Attachou
3.Bucanon
4.Charles Sims/West
4.Brandon Thomas

I'd love to have Jenkins at tight end but would be happy with the above.
