This would be an interesting pickup...he never really lived up to the expectaions, but he would be better than HD (IMO).

Bears terminate contract of WR Earl Bennett

By Josh Katzowitz | NFL Writer

Earl Bennett, who's averaged 28.3 catches in the past three years and who reportedly declined the Bears request for a paycut, was released by Chicago on Tuesday, the team announced.

Bennett, a third-round pick who's been with the Bears for his entire six-year career, was an effective receiver for Chicago in 2009 and 2010 when he caught 54 and 46 passes, respectively. But he's fallen down the depth chart behind Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery, and it sounds like he was in danger of losing his No. 3 receiver job to second-year player Marquess Wilson.

As ESPN Chicago notes, Bennett took a paycut before the 2013 season, lowering his salary by $1 million

With the move Tuesday, the team saves $2.45 million on the salary cap, and now, Bennett could look for a better opportunity. Like, ahem, in Carolina.

This would be a very interesting pick up. He has expierience playing slot as well as the X and Z reciever positions.

Bennett is basically Harry Douglas with 20 pounds of muscle. Him and Jason Avant are competent, but average #3/slot options.

The Falcons don't need another slot option. They already have a roster full of backups that are better in the slot than they are outside. They need to get a guy that can line up outside and win.
