Trindon Holliday on way to ATL?

March, 15, 2014
By Nic Reiner | ESPN.com

Denver Broncos return specialist Trindon Holliday was not retained by the AFC Champions this offseason and thus is a free agent. Holliday is a valuable kick returner who returned both a punt and a kickoff for touchdowns in each of the past two seasons. The Atlanta Falcons now seem to be setting their sights on Holliday.

“Return ace Trindon Holliday is visiting the Falcons [Saturday],” according to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora.

The 5-foot-5, 170-pound returner doesn't offer much on the offensive side of the ball but he can be lethal on special teams. If the Falcons were to sign him, running back/kick returner Jacquizz Rodgers would presumably gain a larger share of the offensive attack and restricted free agent cornerback Robert McClain would relinquish punt-return duties.

The drawbacks to Holliday concern his diminutive size and his propensity for fumbling (10 combined over the past two seasons). Still, his ability to score and his uncommon speed could be enough for the Falcons to bring him aboard. Atlanta might try to find creative ways to incorporate him into the offense as well.

So two years ago when he was released and the Falcons had the same pathetic return men they had no interest. Now when we need to add depth at various positions, they want to add a guy who only offers value as a return man, I mean the guy can't even cover kicks. On top of not offering any value outside of the return game he has shaky hands. Whatever the plan is over at Flowery Branch has me completely lost.

I'd rather have Devin Hester who can actually line up at WR.

Hester or Jacoby Ford would be better options IMO.

While he would make returns more exciting, he fumbles way too much for my liking, plus the aforementioned lack of ability to do anything other than return? I just don't see this as worth a roster spot.

Specialist Trindon Holliday to Giants

Updated: March 17, 2014, 9:34 PM ET
ESPN.com news services

Return specialist Trindon Holliday has agreed to terms with the New York Giants on a one-year deal, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter.

At 5-foot-5, 170 pounds, Holliday's value is in the return game, where he had 1,046 yards and two touchdowns last year for the Denver Broncos.

Holliday has however been hindered by fumbling issues as he has coughed up the ball a combined 10 times over the past two seasons.

someone's still got to run it back after the other team scores, though.

riddle me this: A Smith appears to have very good speed, even at this stage. He just signed a 2 year vet minimum contract. From what I've seen, he has good hands. Why are we looking into a fumbling machine when we got a guy, right there on the roster, who could probably do the job better?

I wonder if he has some issues with KR? considering he has only been relagated to ST duties, if I was him I would be lobbying hard for the position.

curious. :?:

He's too valuable as a gunner on ST to risk in a scoring opportunity.
