Jonathan Massaquoi was not the best back-up in 2013 but I think
will become a force in 2014!!

Is that really why you voted for him as the top backup in 2013?

I don't see that at all, but you were correct about the lousy record this season, so . . .

Harry. He had a thousand yard season in a year when he was pretty much the only guy to throw to at times.

He's overpaid, under-skilled, and generally not in much sync with Ryan, but he did catch a lot of the passes for this year despite everything else (not) going on.

Worrilow tackled guys that got past the DL; that might have happened more times than Douglas was targeted, so his numbers look inflated =).

Some of these guys were not back ups.

None of them opened the season as starters. Massaquoi started, but only because Biermann got hurt. Alford started because Asante got benched. Worrilow started originally because Spoon was hurt, and then played so well that the team decided to bench Akeem Dent. Bartu started also because Nicholas began the season injured, but was on the bubble to begin with.

Douglas only started because the two real starters got injured. And McClain is only a starter on a technicality due to the fact that the nickel cornerback is a de facto starter.

Who else are you in contention with?

With Worrilow being the lone exception, every single one of these guys would go back to being backups if the team kept the same players for 2014. Alford wouldn't beat out Asante, and a healthy Nicholas would be even money with Bartu, and would at least open up OTAs as the starter. Massaquoi would go back to being a backup behind a healthy Kroy, and the same for HD.

I take back ups to mean guys that spell the regulars from time to time but the guys you mention above became the regulars. Technicality, I guess. Assante was only "benched" to give Alford starting time...or so it seemed to me. Don't see Douglass as a back up WR. I think of Drew Davis and D. Johnson as back up WRs.

I’m actually going with Hawley. For the most part, he came in and was a clear upgrade. That’s what a backup is supposed to do, when they are young. He proved his worth.
