OK, that Roddy vote should be for Ryan. My bad.

Ryan never threw anyone under the bus. He took a beating, worked with what he had, made a mess, but never walked away from being Matt Ryan. With the huge contract in hand, a terrible line, no receivers, an infrequent running back, and some questionable play calling, he still went out there and beat Buffalo while getting sacked constantly. He played. A lot of guys wouldn't do that, or would have gotten chippy. He may have played a few bad games, but he went out there and played.

Gotta go with Matt but shouldn't this category be called World's Tallest Midget?

Statistically, Matt was a top 5 QB in the NFL this year with no run game, half of his receiving corps out, and no offensive line. You can refer to him as the tallest midget if you want to, but I'm pretty confident that he's a great player on a crappy team.

Statistically, schmatistically.

Ryan was far from a Top 5 QB in reality this year. I could buy he was in the 10-15 range, which most other advanced metrics put him. And if Football Outsiders metrics put him in the Top 5, then I call their metrics into question.

But despite those misgivings, the Falcons offense was very efficient this past year. People would probably be surprised to know that the Falcons ranked 5th in the NFL in 3rd down conversions this year, which minimal drop off from 2012 (46% to 43%). That and his high completion percentage probably helped Ryan a lot in some of those advanced metrics.

Matt hung in there this season and showed why he’s a franchise quarterback. Hats off to the MVP.
