I found the following passage very encouraging. Maybe they have been keeping up with boards over here  .

WalterFootball.com has heard from sources that the Atlanta Falcons were extremely disappointed with the play of their interior offensive line last season. Second-year guard Peter Konz was singled out as one of those players that failed to live up to expectations. The Falcons' brass was extremely frustrated that quarterback Matt Ryan consistently couldn't step up in the pocket because of penetration down the middle. Atlanta will be looking to improve their interior blocking via free agency and the draft.

The play of the interior of the offensive line has been pretty crappy for a few years. It had to become absolutely craptacular in order to get the FO to take notice.

Another interesting tidbit from WalterFootball:

Sources with the Atlanta Falcons tell WalterFootball.com that head coach Mike Smith enters the 2014 season on a "warm seat." They aren't ready to say that Smith is on a full blown hot seat, but it has gotten warmer underneath him. They said that Smith has been told this and he understands the situation. Smith has been very up front and accountable about the disappointing 2013 season, and Atlanta feels that Smith and his staff are fully capable of engineering a quick turnaround for the Falcons next fall.

Seems legit.

Yet another nugget from WalterFootball:

Don't be surprised if the Atlanta Falcons draft Miami offensive tackle Seantrel Henderson in the mid rounds. Falcons offensive line coach Mike Tice has been giving Henderson a lot of extra attention in practice this week. Henderson and Tice both hail from Minnesota, and as one contact from Minnesota said, "there are so few of us guys from Minnesota in this industry, we kind of stick together and look out for another."

Henderson needs a firm hand to give him some guidance and discipline. Tice, a big man who commands respect with the experience of being a player and head coach, is the perfect mentor to straighten out the gifted Henderson. The Falcons have stated that they want to get bigger and more physical on the offensive line. Henderson would provide a lot of upside to develop. Tice and Atlanta would be a perfect landing spot for Henderson, and those stars could be aligning.

The Falcons were able to bring in former Chiefs general manager Scott Pioli, and his close relationship with Thomas Dimitroff seems to be the reason. Other teams told WalterFootball.com that they were interested in adding Pioli to their front office, but he was telling them he was happy working with NBC. It turns out that working with Dimitroff was too good for Pioli to pass up. Considering Atlanta has lost senior scouts to general manager jobs the past two offseasons, adding Pioli makes a lot of sense for the
Falcons.

Physically Henderson is what you want getting off the bus he just has some technique issues he needs to correct.

Henderson to Falcons doesn't look promising:

And like Lamar Holmes, Seantrel Henderson is a player that is going to need multiple years before he's ready to be a starter. If you draft him in 2014, then you should not be expecting much of him before 2016. In fact, from what I've seen of Henderson, he is much rawer than Holmes. And Holmes was a player that I didn't think had much of a chance to be good until his 3rd year. Henderson may have to wait until Year 4 at the earliest.

Well, I wasn't of the belief that he had round two or three value now if he is there in round 5 why not? They can bring him along slowly with Baker and Holmes likely starting for the foreseeable future. They are coaching him in the senior bowl so they will be able to tell what he is all about.

I guess since the Falcons are down there its a little easier to get information out of the normaly tight lipped organization.

Falcons owner Arthur Blank was unhappy with the depth on the Atlanta roster in 2013. General manager Thomas Dimitroff responded that the backup players are there to get the team through a game or two, but if they were good starters, they wouldn't be backups; they would be starting somewhere and making multi-million-dollar salaries. As proof of Dimitroff's point, there is no backup who is capable of replacing what Julio Jones means to the Falcons' offense. However with Blank unhappy with the depth, one can expect that Dimitroff will be looking to build up talent behind Atlanta's starters with cheap veterans and draft picks.

Nothing against Walter Football, but a lot of their "sourced" information isn't exactly breaking news. It's all stuff that someone that watches the Falcons can figure out or hazard a guess at.

Given I know 1 or 2 Falcon fans that are there at the senior bowl working with various draft-related sites, it could be someone know more plugged in than you or I that is feeding them this info. Or maybe, there is a mouthy scout or assistant coach that is giving them info, but nothing that is being said is exactly "back room" secrets.

1. The Falcons will be looking to upgrade their interior OL because Peter Konz sucked. (no duh)
2. Mike Smith isn't quite coaching for his job, but it's not 100% secure either. (no duh)
3. Tice and Henderson are from Minnesota, and Tice has been coaching Henderson a bit "extra" (although that may not be because they're both from Minnesota, but simply because Henderson is rawer than most other players there and needs the extra coaching), and thus the dots connect that the Falcons could be looking at Henderson because they do need OL help (no duh).
4. Pioli chose Atlanta over other suitors because he has a very close relationship with Dimitroff. (no duh)
5. The Falcons depth sucks and expect them to try and improve it there. (no duh)

Really the only thing that is truly "insider stuff" is the fact that "Other teams told WalterFootball.com that they were interested in adding Pioli to their front office…"

Walter Football is an excellent site, but I need a bit more before I feel like they have some inside source within the Falcons organization.
