Big Ben has a motorcycle accident...

Postby MadBirdMike » Mon Jun 12, 2006 1:13 pm

No helmet. Flipped over handle bars. The coaches lectured him about this. Seems to be a recurring theme among media personalities. Remember Gary Busey? The Braves had this problem with Brian Jordan back in the early 90's.

I hope his is ok and has no head trauma. Hate to see him laid up in a bed for the rest of his life. How tragic, sad.

Wasn't that actually Ron Gant when he broke his leg on a dirt bike?

Gant

Gant did have the accident. I don't know about Brian Jordan, though. I hope he is okay, he had a great career ahead of him.

Yeah, in PA there is no law that says cyclists need to wear helmets. They just passed it a few years ago I believe, while I was in school. I think state legislators just figured they weren't going to "waste" time, effort, and money on saving these people's lives, since I believe motorcyle accidents result in a higher incident of death than cars do whether or not they are wearing a helmet or not.

I'm a fan of Big Ben, I hope he's okay, and I'd hate the Steelers season to be ruined over this incident. Which it looks like it will be. It doesn't sound like the kind of accident that someone comes back from in 2-3 months.

Pretty Bad

Postby SmorgasBorgnine » Mon Jun 12, 2006 4:48 pm

per ESPN.com
Steelers star Ben Roethlisberger, the youngest quarterback to lead a team to the Super Bowl championship, broke his jaw and nose in a motorcycle crash Monday and underwent surgery.
......................The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, citing a police source, reported Roethlisberger also broke his left sinus cavity, suffered a 9-inch laceration to the back of his head, lost teeth and has knee injuries from hitting the pavement. A plastic surgeon has been called in, the source said.

I looks like he's gonna be lucky to play ever again, much less this season.

They might be done inquiring about Duckett, but now you might substitute his name for Schaub's.

Never thought about it, but it would be a good option. I don't know what they can offer us, aside from draft picks, but it is intriguing.
