You know, we've gone a couple of season without having the 'injury bug' and it looks like its really coming to get us this year. With these types of losses to starters, there will be losses for the teams record to be sure. You just can't sustain good football with so many folks injured... well, that and a horrid O-line.

The two injuries most concerning are Kroy Biermann and Brady Ewing.

Matthews came back in the game.
Jackson has a thigh bruise, he'll play next week.
Samuel, who knows but he's more of a luxury IMO.

Ewing is most likely either a dislocation/separation or collar bone. Either one wouldn't be all that great of news.

Biermann could be a number of things but none of those are really good either.

Monday and Tuesday are going to be interesting days IMO...

I think many injuries can be expected. I think this is the weakest team Coach Smith has gone into a season with. When players start trying to do too much, like Steven Jackson with no blocking; with Biermann without much help on the line, everybodys
pressing and it will show.

The biggest problem is the more injuries; the more you get for the same reason, people start trying to do more than they can!!

I do understand you well have a certain amount of people go down every year, but I
don't understand the high ankle sprain. It seems Roddy staying out a month is not enough; but I also don't see how the return before he's ready will help ??

Maybe he's getting better; this may be treated differently?

All I know from watching injuries and its a snowball effect; then you get bigger guys getting into the backfields and runners and safties start getting it to!!

Asante is being underrated by folks because people are overrating Trufant and Alford. McClain struggled as well yesterday and is not nearly off to the start he had a year ago. The Falcons defense is going to be immensely better when Asante gets back into the lineup.

Considering the Falcon defense has allowed over 600 yards passing and 5 TD's thus far I can't say the rookie are doing all that great. Being rookies and the fact that the Falcons have no pass rush they are holding up rather well all things considered.

I look forward to getting Samuel back full time.

Don't know how long that will continue with no running game along with the lack of pass rush. Defense will know we have to pass and can't control the scrimage line. IMHO, it's going to be a long season and hope Ryan can survive with the injury bug infecting this team.

Ewing going down for the year isn't a big deal since Atlanta still has Snelling on the roster. If anything that should spell the end of Ewing as a thing in any facet for the Falcons and moving Snelling to FB fulltime. He is fine in that role.

Biermann is a bigger deal with an already thing defensive line. That being said if Biermann going down is a big deal to this defense we have much, much, much bigger problems than worrying about making the post season. If Massaquoi is worth his salt he'll fill in for Kroy no problem at DE. The bigger loss is the flexibility of Kroy moving around from DE/LB.

I think this is where you are talking about our UFA's coming into play - Barto and Worrilow. They should get some playing time with the injuries to Weatherspoon and KB.

Whoah. When you posted "KB," all I could think was Keith Brooking. I've been talking about Kroy all day with my friends and family, and KB simply would not register as Kroy Biermann. I sat here, just trying to figure out who in the heck he's talking about. Brains are weird. I need to drink some beer to help kill off the old Keith Brooking brain cells.

And here is hoping that one of those two are indeed diamonds in the rough.
