Linebacker

Postby MarylandFalcon1 » Sun Jun 04, 2006 10:30 am

Just like Defensive End, the Falcons came out at #3 in the NFC at Linebacker according to the Sporting News. They ranked the Bears at #1, and the Bucs at #2. Any feeling out there on this ranking?

Sorry Truman, it is just a blurb they put in the back of their weekly magazine so I don't have an online reference. Some things are still hard copies in this day and age

I don't really have any beef with that. Even though he's definitely slowing down, I think Brooks is still the better player to Brooking. Brooks should be in the HOF at the end of his career, Brooking will not unless he manages to make like 3 more Pro Bowls. Urlacher is a monster that he too is probably going to be in the Hall at the end of his career. So the Bears and Bucs each have 1 great player, 1 other pretty good player (Quarles & Briggs) and 1 other decent starter (Hillenmeyer & Nece), while the Falcons have 3 good starters, none great.

What makes our LB corps is the depth. Our 3 backups: Demorrio, Ike, and Beck are as good as many teams 3 starters.

I don't like rankings, they mean nothing. :D

I agree with the ranking, for what it's worth. Our LB corps is one of the strongest parts of the team, when they're healthy.
