Multiple teams remain interested in former Falcons defensive end John Abraham. Including, reportedly, the Falcons.

According to Mike Garafolo of USA Today, the Falcons have remained in contact with Abraham since cutting him before the start of the 2013 league year in March. Abraham, however, has told the Falcons he won’t be returning.
It’s not a surprise. Last year, Abraham signed a three-year deal with the Falcons, and the Falcons tore it up after only one season. Even if the Falcons are offering more than any other team, it’s less than what he was due to make before he was cut — and that could make it difficult for Abraham as a matter of principle to return.

Abraham reportedly could sign with the Titans soon. Coincidentally, the Titans were one of the other suitors for Abraham when he opted last year to stay with the Falcons.

So, wait. We cut the guy who was the only edge rush we had, after he was played in a meaningless game and injured, therefore not producing in the playoffs, we sign him to a three year deal last year, but cut him this year, and then have the nerve to say 'we will take you back if nobody else wants you'?

seems like he has alot more to bitch about then Brinko.

I never could figure out why people thought there was a cold chance in hell that Abe came back to the Falcons. We gave him a fairly lucrative 3-year deal for a player of his age and then threw it out the window after one year telling Abe to go F-himself.

Why would he want to resign back in Atlanta for a 1 or 2 year stint? Aside from a potential super bowl run there is little reason for him to give the Falcons the time of day.

well, he has family here, owns a home, would get another possible crack at the Superbowl ( which aint gonna happen in Tenn), he would retire a Falcon.

But after playing him in a meaningless game, and telling him to 'hit the bricks', I can see why he would feel differently. I think I would, too. :ninja:

Retiring a Falcon doesn't really enter the thought process for signing with a team. If Abe wanted to retire a Falcon he could play 1 or 2 years in Tennessee and then sign a 1 year veteran minimum with the Falcons and then retire.

The only reason to resign with Atlanta is a real crack at a Super Bowl title.
