First we sign Moore to a five-year, $30 million contract with $14 million guaranteed versus what the Buccaneers agreed to with FS Dashon Goldson giving him a five-year, $41.25 million contract. One could argue that the front seven is responsible for Goldson's improved play the same cannot be said for Moore who has never been aided by a pass rush.


Then TD re-signed LT Sam Baker to a six-year, $41.5 million contract with $18.25 million guaranteed. which is a great deal for the Falcons seeing that the Giants spent $37.5 million over 5 years for Beatty. Beatty's contract is fully guaranteed in 2013 and 2014, and he'll collect $24 million over the first three years. The deal's annual average is $7.5 million. Beatty is better than Baker but not by much.


Then the Falcons were able to agree to terms with RB Steven Jackson, formerly of the Rams, on a three-year, $12 million contract with 4 million garunteed. Jackson isnt the same back he was 4 years ago but he can still be a player that adds another dimension to the offense. If Bradie Ewing comes back from his injury out of the just a regular 21 personnel we will have 5 viable recieving options.


Then TD was able to re-sign Tony Gonzalez to a two-year, $14 million contract. The deal contains $7 million guaranteed. Gonzalez's 2013 cap charge is $5.25 million. I have read a couple of reports that the falcons had around 16 mill in space before the Gonzo deal if this is true then we are still in good shape to bring in some pass rush help or DB help and sign our draft class.

A- DOL says about $3.5 under right now; that's enough for the rookies and not much more, I'd guess.

B-there's a lot of pushed off money in the next few years. I hope all goes well.

After Grimey-Gate I do not believe anything DOL says

My numbers say that after Gonzo's signing, and if you figure Jackson costs $2 million, then Falcons are $9.6 million under.

Calculated that their rookies will cost $5.652 million to sign if we get the 4 compensatory picks that have been projected (4th, and 3 7ths).

You figure you need an operating budget of $3 million (good for 4 veteran signings) in the event of injury.

That leaves $1 million to spend. But you figure if/when Ryan restructures, that'll free up $4-6 million against the cap. So if the Falcons are confident about getting a Ryan deal done (and they should be), then that's really $5-7 million to spend.

so if your right Pudge, and after we've taken care of what's in the cupboard we will have 5-7 mil to play with.

Dumerville for 7 million and draft another DE at 30.

If TD pulls that off, I will NEVER have a bad word to say about the Vegan.

Dumervil is so overrated, it's not even funny. He was an average player last year, but because he got a lot of cleanup sacks, people still think he's good. John Abraham is a better player at this point in his career. And when they were the same age (so Abe 4 years ago), he was definitely a better player.
