Falcons S Moore's impressive season interrupted

Falcons SS William Moore had one of the best games of his career (team-high 11 tackles and two interceptions) in his last outing — Atlanta’s Week 13 win over New Orleans — and he played every defensive snap in that game. However, he has not practiced for the past two weeks, and it remains unclear how and when Moore suffered the hamstring injury that has sidelined him.
He did not play in Week 14 and is questionable for Atlanta’s Week 15 game against the Giants.
The Falcons already have clinched the NFC South title, but they are still trying to secure home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and Moore has been one of their best defensive players this season. In fact, league evaluators say Moore, who is in the final year of his contract, is having one of the best seasons of his four-year career.
Injuries have set him back before, though. Quad and groin injuries kept him out of four games last season and he played in only two games as a rookie before being placed on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.
Fourteen of the 19 games Moore has missed in his career were during his rookie season (2009) — Atlanta’s record without Moore is 9-10 (it’s 34-8 in games he has played in).
It should not come as a surprise if the Falcons are erring on the side of caution in the short term with Moore while he deals with the hamstring injury — they need him to be as healthy as possible for the playoffs.
