Matt Ryan - Mr. Interception

Postby dirtybirdnw » Sun Nov 25, 2012 1:59 pm

So much for all the warm and fuzzy feelings about "Matty Ice"; he's more like "Matty Pick" these days... 7 Interceptions & 3 TD's the past two games and today's game.

Matt Ryan had a terrific game. He made some great throws and made some timely plays. Once again bashing Ryan is ridiculous for a guy who was mostly on top of his game.

Once again get a clue.

The proper name is Ice Pick but, yeah, who cares? Keep slinging it Matt. Actually getting blindsided on the corner blitz was more alarming to me. Freeman should have had at least 3 picks by Assante alone.

The pick was a fantastic play by a great DB. Beyond that one pick, Ryan was pretty darn near perfect. He should have had at least one more TD, as Jones dropped two of them. Not bashing Jones because both plays were tough, but for what we gave up for Julio, he should be making those plays.

Matt has a tendency to stare down his initial reads at times, as he did on the INT and the fumble. But he consistently wins so much pre-snap that sometimes that is the price you pay.

He's made some poor throws and bad decisions, but that comes with the territory of being aggressive. Never fault a QB for being aggressive, at least not unless it's do or die (that late INT vs Carolina a few years back comes to mind as a time when being aggressive was the wrong move).

You don't want to have Captain Checkdown running your offense, which at times Matt has been in the past.

If only I could actually watch more Falcon games... The only context I have are stats.

It will be glorious to see the Falcons play on Thursday. :)

I'm pretty sure Matt posted a 111+ QB rating, so I'm not going to call him out for 1 INT against Ronde Barber. I mean going in we should just pencil in a INT by Barber. ATL QBs have almost single-handedly put Barber in the HOF as he gets an obligatory INT each time we play the Bucs a season. I really can't stand the guy and will be glad when I don't have to see him go against us anymore. I mean really, the guy has 40+ INTs on his career and I'd wager half of that total are against the Falcons. I'd look it up if I had the time...
