They're not going to cut him Monday. He's going to play against the Jaguars. Redman played because he won't play next week, because I'm confident the team is going to keep him on as the No. 2 QB. Davis will be the No. 3. But you'll likely see Davis get the start next week against the Jaguars, with Wilson playing the 2nd half.

Well, according to Jay Adams, JPW has been waived.

The Falcons face-booked me that he is cut JPW did a nice job helping Julio transfer to the NFL and for that I am grateful, but other than that he has never shown anything remotely close to even being a back up in the NFL. I think the staff is excited as some of us on this board that we may have found something ability wise with our new #3 guy.

Crap I'll just make the huge leap that in 3 years we could have a real Qb controversy.

I mean this guy has shown as much as anyone and with some practice could become
a #1 Qb. I understand how early it is to say this, but if he'd have been a third round pick we'd already be thinking this guy has some intangibles a lot of rookies don't.

I'm not so sure I wouldn't have him start next week and see what happens. As has been suggested if Ryan goes down we're screwed, so if the starters sit out next week,
I'd love to see a big dose of him..... If I was coach I wouldn't make him the #2 but as
a fan I'd almost feel why not? Most of the things he doesn't have can be learned; and
the things he does have can't be learned!!

The Dreamboat has left the harbor. He looked pretty bad every time I saw him play other than one in his first year pre-season if memory serves. The Bears have J. Campbell to back up Cutler and we have Redman. Hmmmm.....

I figured they wouldn't cut Wilson because I thought they would sit Redman for the final game. Start Davis, and then probably play Wilson for the last quarter or so. Now they will have to get Redman ready to play, something that if they do plan on keeping him as the No. 2, you really don't want to do because it opens him for injury.

But I figured they opted to cut Wilson sooner rather than later due to the issues with injuries we have at DT (where I'm still wondering why Conrad Obi is on the roster) and CB (where THompson, McClain, & Markett are expendable). But with Owens hurt and Walls done, and the Falcons unlikely to play the Top 3 corners there, it leaves us with only 2 healthy corners (Franks & McClain), and if Owens won't play vs. J-ville, that means we'll need Markett & Thompson to make it through that game depth-wise.

Since Babs probably won't play vs. J-ville as well, and probably neither will Jerry, that probably explains why Obi is still around given that would only leave us with 3 healthy DTs to make it through that game.

Also surprised the team didn't part with Josh Harris yet. At least in their eyes that position battle for LS still is relatively close.

Ultimately it also probably means that Redman isn't as safe as I suspected he was. He still has to perform up to a level that makes the team's decision for them about whether he's worth keeping or not since he's going to likely get some reps vs. J-ville. I just don't see the team giving all the reps to Davis. It would be cool if they did, but I doubt they will.

Look there was logic applied by my expectation that Wilson would be kept thinking that Owens would finally be healthy or the team would figure out that keeping Zelenka was a forgone conclusion.

Now let's see if they buy that...

What happens if he (JPW) hits the market and no one bites? The smart thing to do would be to play him next to 'showcase' him as trade bait. But, he stunk so bad they just cut him outright. At this point in the offseason, anyone who gets him is getting him as either a 3rd QB option or PS. Right?

So the possibility is he will either not get chosen, or end up on someone else's PS. So if Redman goes down thursday, at the very least we resign JPW since he is familiar with the playbook and we got 'Nique as the backup with JPW as the 'oh snit' #3 QB.

But by cutting him, your basically telling Redman to get to work.
