If you're an honest Vegas sports book
, and you're not trying to entice betting, but just doing math before the season, what odds would you place on the Birds to go all the way? I feel 8:1 is reasonable. Here's the way I look at it: (knock on wood) We will make the playoffs - that's 12:1. At the very least, we will have superior talent at the offensive skill positions as compared to atleast 2/3rds of the supposed playoff teams - that's a conservative 6:1. We should also be penalized for lack of proven success in the playoffs, as well as a kinda s***ty road resume - that bumps it back to 8:1.
I do realize that this is nowhere close to how odds are set, and I do know a good deal about how the odds are set/fluxuate, so please save me the lectures.
I guess the question is, if you're a bookie; what do you feel are fair odds for this team to do it all?
note: I've yet to look at an actual line (swear to freddie falcon), but my guess would be 12:1 as of now in Vegas..
