David Nelson - WR - Florida Height: 6'5 Weight: 212 40 Time: 4.62 Projected: FA
Positives:
- Played at a big school against top competition - Great size - Very physical WR - Catches with his hands - Outstanding redzone threat - Does a good job of high pointing passes - Almost always wins on jump balls - Could be a great blocker - Uses his body well to shield defenders
Negatives:
- Very slow - Didn't get a lot of playing time - Not productive - Extremely slow running his routes - Takes too long and loses a lot of speed on his breaks - Is not a deep threat - Won't do much after the catch - Will not generate any separation in the NFL
Overview:
David Nelson is a long shot to get drafted. He is simply too slow to get any separation in the NFL. Not only is he slow but he lumbers coming out of his breaks and really loses a lot of speed. He can only be used on short passes where he can use his size to shield away defenders or in the redzone where he excels. He is a good leaper and does a great job of high pointing passes and if given the chance could be quite a good guy to go to on the goal line.
