Michigan State Senior
PROS: Has nice hands and good body control. Plays the ball at its highest point and does a good job adjusting to the throw. Shows good ability and potential as a route-runner. Capable blocker that does a nice job getting position and locking onto defender. Will block downfield as well. Works as a gunner on special teams.
CONS: Lacks speed to challenge NFL defenses. Does too much body catching. Lacks burst out of his breaks and will have trouble getting separation consistently. Not a threat after the catch.
OVERVIEW: A self-made player that doesn't have the physical tools to wow you, but has worked himself into a capable receiver.
NFL FORECAST: White doesn't have the speed and burst to be a playmaker, but he has the tools you like in a Wayne Chrebet-like possession wideout. I think he'll be most effective as a No. 3 guy. He can potentially work in the slot as well as outside, and I think he compares to a player like Greg Camarillo. He'll be a nice reliable backup option for a quarterback, and will do a lot of the little things like route-running, blocking, and playing on special teams that will endear him to coaches and keep him in the league for a very long time. He'll never be a playmaker, but the type of guy that can consistently give an offense 40-50 catches each year, much like Camarillo has done the past two years in Miami.
ATL FORECAST: White would be a good fit as a fourth wideout for the Falcons to potentially supplant Finneran in 2011 and beyond. He can play special teams, meaning he can stick right away. Coaches will like his attention to detail, and he has the ability like Finneran to line up either inside or outside. He'll never be a featured part of the passing game, but will be a reliable backup that can make some plays when the team lines up in 3-wide and 4-wide situations. He'll probably contribute only 20-30 catches annually here in Atlanta, but a lot of them will be on third downs.
VALUE: White is a solid middle-round pick. He's probably best served going in the fifth, but wouldn't be a reach in the fourth for a team looking for a solid backup possession guy.
