Fresno State Senior
PROS: Has nice speed and decent burst through hole as a north-south runner. Will lower the shoulder to deliver blow and has decent power. Is a patient runner.
CONS: Lacks ideal vision and doesn't always see holes developing. Can be too patient at times waiting for hole to develop. Needs to improve in pass protection. Has choppy footwork when he tries to change direction.
OVERVIEW: Miller fell by the way side with the emergence of Ryan Mathews this past year. Split carries with Mathews the two previous season, and led the team with 812 yards as a junior. He has good size, but didn't shine in the few opportunities he got as a senior, when he only had 68 carries.
NFL FORECAST: Miller has enough skills to stick in the pros, but probably not if he can show some special teams ability. He just doesn't have great skills and nothing really sticks out. He has good size and power, but is not great there. Has nice speed and burst, but his lack of vision means he can't take full advantage of that. He could work well in a one-cut zone-blocking scheme, but then only at best as a complementary guy. He's not really going to be an effective short-yardage guy because of his lack of vision. And he's not polished in the passing game. I could see him sticking on some teams practice squad based off his running ability, and if he shows ability to play on special teams he has a chance to make it as a No. 3 back.
ATL FORECAST: Miller could compete for a job, but at best he'd be a practice squad player, and doesn't seem to possess the upside to be able to stick on the team beyond his first summer. He'd be mainly a body to compete in camp, but offers limited long-term potential to develop as a backup.
VALUE: Miller shouldn't be drafted but is worth a look in camp by some team.
