BRANDON MINOR
6-0/218
Michigan Senior

PROS: Has good size and shows power able to break arm tackles. Will lower the shoulder to deliver blow to defender on the second level. Will fight for extra yards and runs harder as the game progresses. Has good vision, speed and quickness. Shows good burst through hole and lateral quickness to make defenders miss on the second level.
CONS: Can be too patient at times, waiting for play to deveop. Runs a bit upright. Has a thin build and not going to run over guys at the point of attack. Limited reps in passing game as a blocker and receiver. Has issues with durability.
OVERVIEW: Minor is a good runner that has a good combination of speed, power, and vision. as the leading rusher the past two years despite not being the true lead back. Combined for 199 carries for 1035 yards (5.2 avg) and 17 touchdowns. Started only 6 games during his career, and caught only 10 passes. He was limited early in the year with an ankle sprain, and then tore his left rotator cuff late in the year, which has caused him to miss pretty much all of the off-season. But he should be recovered from the injury by camp. Missed time as a junior due to a wrist injury.
NFL FORECAST: Minor has had injury issues going back to high school, so I don't really like his chances of remaining healthy on the next level. If not for his injury issues, he could have a nice future as a complementary runner. Never really toted the rock fully at Michigan, although part of that was injuries and the other part was the past two years playing in Rich Rodriguez's spread option offense. He has nice power, but he's not going to be a true power runner, not unless he can add some muscle and fill out his frame better. But he runs behind his pads, and is capable of being a good between the tackles runner. He has good speed, but is more quick than fast. He's one of those players that had Michigan not switched offenses and he had stayed healthy, it's forseeable to think he could have developed into a first or second round talent. You see flashes of that ability in him. Behind a zone-blocking line, he could be a good back that can get 15-20 carries per game. He can be a lead back, but I don't feel confident he would hold up for 16 games of an NFL-level pounding with such a workload.
ATL FORECAST: He would be a nice sleeper option for the Falcons. He has the potential to develop into a contributor on third downs, at least as a blocker. He runs well behind a fullback, and with his power and vision could be a good fit in Mularkey's system as an heir apparent to Turner as the Falcons lead back a few years down the road. But again, durability is the concern. He is a better backup potentially than Snelling behind Turner, but only if he can stay healthy. He would have a chance in Atlanta to be brought along slowly, probably spending his first year or so on the practice squad. He would likely sit the bench for at least a year or two before he was asked to contribute.
VALUE: In terms of ability, Minor is a second or third round talent. But his injury concerns mean that a team shouldn't use anything more than a sixth or seventh round pick, although ideally you'd like to get him as an undrafted free agent where he could be a steal.
