CHRIS TODD
6-2/216
Auburn Senior

PROS: Has a nice arm that will show some nice touch at times on the deep throws. Shows accuracy when he's able to throw over the middle. Can slide his feet to avoid rusher in the pocket with decent mobility. Physically stronger than his size usually merits.
CONS: Needs to have a quicker trigger and holds onto the ball too long. Will stare down receivers and forces throws. Has an inconsistent arm that is deficient when he can't set his feet and step into his throws. Not consistently able to drive the ball downfield. Needs to improve his footwork and mechanics. Needs to improve touch as some passes tend to sail on him. Questionable whether he can read an NFL defense.
OVERVIEW: Todd will flash ability at times, but is far too inconsistent to be considered more than a marginal NFL quarterback prospect. Began career at Texas Tech, where he backed up Graham Harrell for a year before moving onto to Hutchinson Community College before enrolling at Auburn in 2008. Split reps with Kodi Burns that year. Play improved significantly as a senior as he won full-time job. Completed 60.4% of his passes with 22:6 TD-INT ratio as a senior.
NFL FORECAST: Todd has a chance of sticking on an NFL roster, and if given time to sit and learn for a few years, might eventually develop into a semi-competent NFL backup. He can compete, but unlikely to win. He's still fairly raw with his decision making, accuracy, footwork, mechanics, and arm strength being fairly unimpressive. Basically he's the complete package of what a mediocre NFL quarterback prospect is. You like the improvement he showed from his junior to senior year, and hope that maybe that's a sign that with patience and some heavy hands-on training from an NFL coach, he could make a similar improvement as he learns the pro game. But he's a project, and one that I don't think has enough of anything that will endear him to NFL coaches.
ATL FORECAST: Todd is a guy that can be a camp body, but it's doubtful he has a legit shot at unseating any of the Falcons four quarterbacks. And at best, he's a guy that shows some moxy in preseason games and is put on the practice squad. But his long-term value isn't as good as either Wilson or Shockley, so there's little chance he could stick beyond a single summer.
VALUE: Todd is worth a look in camp by some team, but you'd be a fool to draft him.
