I'll be a bit boring, and say it's 12-4 once more.

So how much has Matt Ryan been worth this year?

In part to tweak Mark Zinno, a local radio show host, and in part because Matt Ryan has a OMG!!11! AYA, I did this blog post. My calculation suggest he's been worth about 9 points more than the average QB. Note that the average margin of victory in a 1016 regular season game is about 10.2 points.. D...

Playoffs 2016 Season

Around this time of year I calculate playoff odds, and I have a system I determined by doing logistic regressions of parameters until I found three that were significant to > 95%. I'll note most offensive and defensive stats aren't that predictive. But three stats are. Home field advantage, strength...

Re: Devonta due for a down year?

At this point, the only thing that appears to be slowing Devonta down is the insistence on running Tevin a lot more..

Re: Thought on Neal Being Falcons No1 pick

Keanu Neal = more speed, a lot more of the Cover 3 that Seattle likes. And it dovetails with the pick in the second round, Deion Jones, adding speed. If the speed improvement saves a touchdown every third game, it reduces the points the Falcs give up by bit more than 2 a game. If instead every other...

Top Medical Issues, 2016 draft.

The link is here. Short takes. Jaylon Smith deserves all the prayers he can get. Myles Jack has a congenital issue with his cartilage. How long he plays depends on luck. The cartilage issue, more than the meniscus tear, is going to affect his draft stock. Shaq Lawson has a shoulder issue. Evidently ...

Re: We should trade up for Jack

At this point, don't see how Jack slips, worst case, past #6. Dallas might trade if they are so in love with Jalen Ramsay that they lose it when San Diego picks him. Possible. Possible that they draft Jack despite causing position issues with Sean Lee. Jax needs top rate defensive help, and Baltimor...

The AV cost of the 2016 Rams-Titans trade

Posted here:

I guess the Rams want the second coming of John Elway, or maybe Johnny Unitas ;)
Read the article, it'll make more sense.

Re: What are the odds the Falcons trade up?

Part of the problem is that everyone from the Titans on down is looking to trade down. http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/titans/2016/02/24/tennessee-pick-trade-draft/80862070/ http://thebiglead.com/2016/01/19/titans-trade-1st-pick-nfl-draft-2016/ http://mmqb.si.com/mmqb/2016/04/10/will-smith-...

What are the odds the Falcons trade up?

And if so, who do they trade up for?

I know the radio heads around town (in particular Mike Bell) was speculating that the Falcons could trade up for Myles Jack.

Re: My Pre-Combine 1st round Mock Draft

I don't think Jaylon Smith is a first round draft choice any more, given the seriousness of his injuries. Lee, iirc, ran a 4.42 at the combine. I would not object to Lee, Hargreaves or Ragland as first round picks. Lee and Hargreaves would make the team faster. Ragland would make the team tougher. P...

Re: So what now?

I got on first-pick.com and looked as well at Draftek. Draftek's so-called Atlanta needs are too broad to be useful, IMO. first-pick claims major needs are TE, DE, and FS. I tend to think the #1 need is a center, with defensive pass rushers second and olb third. Deal with C is that (if CBS sports is...

A first-pick.com mock draft

I mostly did this to see what first-pick.com had as Atlanta Falcons needs. They listed TE, DE, and FS. I tend to think the biggest need is C. CBS sports has all their best centers as late 2nd to 3rd round picks. Anyway, the draft (first-pick is a little heavy on the wish fulfillment, be warned). I t...
